Magnetic contact for a compatible alarm input

The Directed 8600 is a compact magnetic switch accessory for monitoring an opening panel, such as a sliding door or window, as part of a suitable alarm installation. It is not a complete alarm system.

Supplied set

  • One prewired contact block and its matching magnet.
  • Pre-applied adhesive backing, as specified by the supplier.

Contact operation and compatibility

The manufacturer identifies the 8600 as a normally closed contact model. For this offered unit, the supplier explicitly specifies that the contact is open when the magnet and contact block are together, and closes when they are separated. Confirm that this switching behaviour matches the alarm input before ordering; do not assume that “normally closed” means closed while the protected door or window is shut.

The installer must confirm the alarm input requirements, contact loading, mounting clearance and suitable positioning for the intended panel. This is not a universal fit for every alarm, and no voltage, current, switching-distance or weatherproof rating is claimed here.
